The American Physiological Society (2008) summarized a study that found the anticipation of laughter reduced levels of cortisol, epinephrine, and dopac, a dopamine catabolite, while releasing dopamine, oxytocin, and endorphins. These chemicals enhance learning, motivation, and attention, illustrating laughter's calming effect on our physical, emotional, and mental well-being, which in turn supports the learning process.

Savage et al. (2017) emphasize the therapeutic benefits of humor and laughter, noting that humor and laughter help create an environment conducive to learning.
